Be back at some time in the future. Past shows have podcasts you can download or stream. In 2012 the bulk of the shows were NWW list A-Z, making this the only place on the internet you can access examples of all of the artists. If you enjoy eclectic and inventive music, I suggest you graze these bands.Dr. Nothinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04401264579027849280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134355807068605300.post-59506882747309169782015-02-13T11:26:00.002-08:002015-02-13T11:31:39.014-08:00My Fav's V...Still going strong with some of my personal preferences from the list per titles and acts, this week we (my homunculus drones and myself) focus mostly on the M's and N's (with a promised revisit to the amazing King Crimson), of which (apparently) many are on my top list... Funny as most of the acts up until now on this retrospective of my personal taste have been fairly accessible, but for some reason it seems that a good amount of the M's happen to not only be on my short list, but about half of tonight's fair per anyway is pretty inaccessible to "normal" taste, so I harken back to my 'normal' pattern of beginning upbeat and closer to "mainstream" and deteriorating into slower and more chaotic noisy stuff... Ending with the (not-too-arguably) very 1st noise band ever... from the LATE 60's... and they're from Canada... PERFECT way to end a party that's gone on for FAR too long!
I think I'm about 3 or 4 shows behind which I will easily catch up this weekend. Also, I didn't do a NEW show last week, as A) The week before's had issues when I was recording it in AudioHiJackPro so I decided to record the same show again last week and B) Though I WAS planning on doing it AFTER a NEW show, but all day Friday I forgot that it WAS Friday and only remembered literally 20 minutes before I needed to be at the studio and do it, so I had no time. I'm actually (speaking of doing more than one show a night) considering doing a few extended shows in the future of 3 and even 4 hours as I've got a new job that will be NOC shift, rendering me up and awake all night anyhow, and the station enjoys having real people on-air instead of the robot crew which is what is mostly broadcasting at night in general..... MOSTLY...
...and here's some more of my fav's!
There are a lot of "A" artists, so tonight's show is all A's. I'm also choosing from my favorite songs by them as well, so the next several weeks will be mostly accessible and all kinds of rock including Kraut (of course) Prog, Avantgarde, Space, Art, Psychedelic, Folk, Zeuhl ...and with lots of uptempo tunes. And tonight is, I must say a really awesome set-list.

BTW, I've got most of my podcasts that I'm behind in sharing edited, so I should, thus have most of what I'm behind per the podcast posted this weekend.
I lost my job and almost face losing my apartment, though another job has become pretty imminent, so at this point all is returning to "normal" and I expect to be able to catch this up soon. I'm not making any promises per when though; I'm just having a bug crawls up my arse soon and I get it over with. I DO have most of the shows edited though and ready to upload onto my BOX account, so it's just the posting work I need to attend to... Oh, and last week's show never happened (save about 20 minutes of the 1st hour long piece) due to a scheduling error at the station, another DJ came in and had a guest artist from L.A. to interview and have perform, so I bowed out. As things ARE getting less stressful for me now, I'm returning to shorter pieces (longer set lists), as one of the main reasons I've been focusing on longer songs is to not have to spend an hour each Friday typing this out as I've been depressed... CRY FOR ME, MOTHERFUCKERS.....CRYYYY!!
I mean Jeff fucking STRYKER long tonight, ladies ~n~ gents! Only two tunes in the entire two hour show! And the artists are two of the 20th century's heavy-hitters in the modern classical/experimental fields. Xenakis and Stockhausen. The Karlheinz piece is the one that inspired the Beatles' Revolution Number Nine. So sit back, relax, take a Xanex and melt into your recliner, cause these two ditties are loooong and slooooow and trippe'!
I'm still planning on throwing in one crammed with as many acts as I can fit into my 2 hour show, seeing as I have in my library well over 100 songs clocking in under a minute, perhaps even more clock in at over 1/2 an hour. I try and put some 15, 20 minute bits in each week and occasionally sneak in a 30, but I don't get a chance to play many and some of the acts ONLY have songs that long or longer, so they don't get much attention at all on this podcast. Many of the latter also focus mainly on experimental/concrete/inaccessible stuff so in the coming weeks there will be shows devoted mainly to that, not unlike what I did on Halloween (which will this weekend along with the other casts not on the blog, be put there)...
AGAIN! lol. The computer at the radio station I use to upload the shows after they're recorded has been off the interwebs for a few weeks now. I've gone in each week expecting it fixed but finding it not. I am going to bring a thumb drive with me this week and get it all caught up this weekend.Dr. Nothinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04401264579027849280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134355807068605300.post-90120292929367384882014-11-14T20:58:00.001-08:002015-01-28T04:33:26.995-08:00Grab Bag...Nothing special tonight per a theme... just let WinAmp randomize my collection and chose the top 2 hours worth of non-shit...
This week though KIIIIIiiinda in that theme, I had WinAmp male me another random list and the 1st 1:45 worth of the songs ranged in length from about a minute to about a half an hour. I thought it would be interesting to arrange them from shortest to longest... LET'S SEE IF IT STICKS TO THE FUCKING WALL NOW!!!!!
Which ended up being more time consuming a prospect than I had bargained for as there are literally hundreds of songs from artists off the list in my collection that are under a single minute. Compiling and blogging that set list would have taken more time than I had set aside this week to do so. In turn, I just threw together another "random" (per WinAmp and my editing) list that begins up eat and slows down to degenerate nonsense... NEXT week though is Halloween and as many of the acts have songs WELL in excess of 30 minutes (some an entire hour) I plan to mix multiple lengthy ambient, concrete and vocal tracks together... maybe throwing in some irdials and creepy turn-of-the 20th century stuff to create a spooky soundscape... for AT LEAST three hours if not more.
Fusion, avant garde, straight... It's kind of hard to avoid as a genre in the list a ,many acts delve into it. So tonight I tried to avoid it altogether. I let a couple slip in, but most of the pieces I picked can be called, "accessible but still weird". Mostly upbeat and fun stuff and I let WinAmp choose a "random" mix this time instead of arranging the songs from accessible/uptempo to inaccessible and drudging. All of the file from the last 6 shows are now ready to edit which I plan to do tonight after this, the 7th episode I am behind in uploading. Looking forward to being caught up!
Alright though, now that summer is over and fall term has begun at the University of Oregon from which I transmit this crap, I will be on pretty much every week for the next 7 or 8 months... and in the winter over the December break I will likely have my semi-yearly "6 hours of fucked up Xmas music" marathon, so mark your calendars for the 25th of December from midnight to 6AM. ANYhow, as the title of this post implies, I am going Jazzy tonight with the NWW list fare. Mostly pretty upbeat and "dancey" so if you FEEL like it, grab some stranger off the alley in back your placez and grease up your kitchen floor so's you two can scoots around in comfy shoes to the big, boppy bass beats jammin' in yer ears. (and of course I veer off at the end)
